Wembley Fever Hits Learning@thecowshed Kids

Students from the MK Dons study centre, Learning@thecowshed, enjoyed a live link-up with kids from the Grimsby Town FC study centre last week as part of the build-up to the Dons historic victory at Wembley.

The students, from Sir Frank Markham School, were chosen by Angie Warde, who manages the Playing for Success programme for MK, to represent the views of children and young people of Milton Keynes in the run up to Wembley. The focus of the link up was to promote positive attitudes towards the event, win or lose, and to discuss issues such as sportsmanship.

The link up involved discussion and debate about how each Club would fair as well as identifying the hopes and aspirations of young fans about their teams reaching the final.

A quick-fire question & answer session revealed some interesting facts about both Grimsby and MK Dons as well as some revealing predictions for the final score with the Dons kids hoping for a 2-1 win and the young Mariner's predicting a 3-1 win for the Dons!

In a week of historic 'firsts' for the Dons this was the first live link up of this kind between Playing for Success centres and attracted attention from local media; including Horizon Radio. Manager Angie Warde was pleased with the positive attitude of the pupils from both clubs towards the link-up and told Horizon;

"This is everything Playing for Success should be about and it's great to be able to share the excitement of young people in Milton Keynes about the prospect of the Dons going to Wembley."
